Aquamid

lip enhancement

Modern medical science has brought many positive advances into the public domain. One of the fastest growing of these is aesthetic enhancement - the process of improving quality of life by ironing out the physical anomalies in our looks that we are unhappy with.

Aquamid® is a transparent, injectable implant in hydrogel form. The hydrogel is composed of 97.5% sterile water bound to 2.5% cross-linked polymers. These have been used safely in biomedicine for decades.

Aquamid®is designed for immediate, precise and lasting aesthetic enhancement and reconstruction of facial and body tissues. The implants add volume where it is needed under your skin to restore or augment the contours of your face or body.

Corrects
- Crow’s feet / Frown lines
- Blemished / Acne scars or fine lines
- Wrinkles
- Lip augmentation and contouring
- Chin, Cheek, Cheekbone augmentation
- Post-traumatic, post-surgery, scar and other recorrection

Anyone, who would like to enhancement and seek to improve their quality of life and self-esteem, just to be safe you should avoid these treatments if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or are on medication for the rare neuromuscular disorder myasthenia gravis.

Aquamid® is a sterile, injectable hydrogel made from a homogeneous (no microspheres or particles) polyacrylamide hydrogel. The transparent hydrogel is composed of 97.5% water and 2.5% cross-linked polyacrylamide.Aquamid® is stable, biologically inactive, pH neutral, insoluble in all known solvents, non-toxic and is used for facial and body contour correction and reconstruction. It allows the exchange of fluids with surrounding cells, but maintains its shape.

The polyacrylamide used in Aquamid® is chemically stable; its cross-linked structure and big molecular size mean it cannot migrate. Moreover, no enzyme or bacterium can metabolise the polyacrylamide used. As a result, the implants remain at the site of injection.

Aquamid® contains more water - 97.5% - and less polymer - 2.5% - than any other polyacrylamide hydrogel.
This means that Aquamid®:Is highly biocompatible Allows maximum water exchange with tissue Requires avery thin needle (27G) which minimizes the pain .Is pH neutral (7.5 in average).

The Procedure

Prior to the treatment, we recommend the use of an antibiotic tablet and ointment to minimize the risk of infection.

During the treatment, the area is first numbed with local anesthetic. The Aquamid is then injected. The results are immediate and it is possible to return straight back to your normal activities. We recommend that you continue the prescribed antibiotics and ointment following the treatment.

Pre treatment: Approximately 45-60 minutes
Procedure: Approximately 10-15 minutes

Results

Aquamid® injectable implants become a soft and stable part of your tissue. They are non-resorbable, non-toxic and non-allergenic. They do not disappear, and do not move from the injection site.

Risks

All traces of cosmetics, cream, etc. must be removed. Aquamid® must not be injected in a site where another permanent filler is present.

If the area has been treated with a resorbable product, an injection of Aquamid® should not be made until the resorbable product has disappeared completely (at least six months).

Patients must avoid touching the injection site for at least six hours, or using cosmetics on the site, for 24 hours after injection.

Should not be exposed to extreme cold or hot for at least 4 weeks.

Small risk of transient swollen and tenderness may occur near the treatment site within the first 1-2 days after treatment. If not caused by infection, these will be self-limiting and will resolve spontaneously within a couple of days.
