Butt Lift

Butt lift surgery (gluteoplasty) lifts and tightens the skin of the buttocks. Excess skin is removed and the surrounding tissue repositioned to create a more youthful and pleasing body contour. Pre Operative Care

Your surgeon will direct you on preparation for surgery. You will be given instructions on eating and drinking, smoking, and taking or avoiding vitamins, iron tablets and certain medications. If you develop a cold or an infection of any kind, especially a skin infection, your surgery may have to be postponed. Patients that suffer from hypertension must inform the surgeon prior to surgery. To eliminate the chance of post op. bleeding you should avoid aspirin and any medication containing aspirin or brufen for two weeks prior to surgery.

Communication with your surgeon is very important. You must clearly discuss your desired look with the surgeon so that he or she can determine with you what can realistically be achieved.

Post Operative Care

Swelling and bruising will be present for ten to fourteen days after the buttock lift, and discomfort and tightness in the buttock area is common for the first 24 to 48 hours. You will wear a supportive compression bandage over the area to help with the reduction of swelling and tightening of skin. After the buttock lift, recovery from bruising and swelling should occur within the month following surgery. Patients usually need 6 weeks after surgery before attempting any strenuous activities. Full buttock lift recovery is generally complete about 4-6 months after surgery

Most patients are back to work within a week or two. Vigorous physical activity should be avoided for about three to six weeks. It is important to stay as mobile as possible during the buttock lift recovery time to promote good circulation and effective healing.

As with all surgery, it is important to understand that these guidelines can vary widely based on the patient’s personal health, the techniques used, and other variable factors surrounding the surgery. Any severe pain should be reported to your doctor.

Risk

The decision to have Butt lift surgery is extremely personal and you’ll have to decide if the benefits will achieve your goals and if the risks and potential complications are acceptable.

A buttock lift is a relatively safe procedure with few complications. However, as with all surgeries, there is the rare chance of an infection developing or an adverse reaction to anaesthesia. These can be controlled by medications, and they don't occur frequently. In some cases, patients who undergo a buttock lift may also experience some numbness or tightness that usually  will disappear naturally over the recuperation period.

Results

Most swelling should subside within the first 4 to 6 weeks, although your final result may not be fully realized until up to one year following your procedure. Your body contours should be permanently improved provided you do not lose or gain a significant amount of weight. However, age and gravity will eventually cause some loss of firmness.

Your surgeon will strive to place the scar as inconspicuously as possible, so that it will be hidden underneath your chosen bathing suit style. Although they are permanent, scars will improve over time, continuing to flatten and fade for up to two years.
