Laser Hair Removal

laser Hair removal

The laser creates a beam of high intensity light that penetrates deep into skin tissue where it delivers a controlled amount of targeted therapeutic heat. The key to successful hair removal is destroying the entire follicle, down to the bulb and the germinating centre of the roots.

Laser hair removal is used to remove unwanted hair. Common treatment locations include legs, armpits, upper lip, chin and bikini line. However, it's possible to treat unwanted hair in nearly any area.

Hair color and skin type influence the success of laser hair removal. For example, laser hair removal is most effective for people who have light skin and dark hair because the laser beam targets the pigment (melanin) in the hair. People who have darker skin can also attempt laser hair removal, but the laser beam may also affect the melanin in the skin. Laser hair removal isn't generally effective for white, blond or gray hair.

The Procedure

It is a gentle 3-step process. The treatment area is cleaned, shaved and then exposed to laser energy.  The laser energy passes through the skin and into the hair follicle and its root.  In a fraction of a second, all hair in the treated area is disabled.
Treatments work by disabling the hair that is principally in the active growth phase at the time of treatment. Since other hairs will enter this active growth phase at different times, additional treatments may be necessary to disable all of the hair follicles in a given area.

Pre-treatment: Approximately 10 - 15 minutes
Treatment: Approximately 10 – 90 minutes (depend on treatment area)

Results

Patient will see results immediately after each laser hair removal session, with less and less hair growth happening during the weeks after each session.  Maintenance appointments are encouraged to target hair that was hidden during previous sessions.

Three to seven days after treatment you may experience what seems to be re-growth of hair.  Actually, most of these hairs are being shed as a result of your treatment and are not re-growing.

 Risks

Laser hair removal doesn't guarantee permanent hair removal. Some hair may be resistant to the laser treatment or may grow again after treatment — although the new hair growth may be finer and lighter in colour.

The most common side effects of laser hair removal include:
Skin irritation. Temporary irritation, crusting or scabbing is possible after laser hair removal.
