One Day Before Surgery
Shopping List
The following is a list of items that should be purchased prior to surgery in order to prepare for and more easily recover from surgery
- Multivitamin (to take prior to surgery and during your recovery
- Germ-inhibiting soap, such as Gamophen,(to bath with prior to surgery in order to minimise germs).
- Good Reading Material for the days during recovery or Load Ipod with Music
- Post Surgery Garments you should have already purchased by now!
- Strong Pain relief as back up
Pack your bag for the day of surgery.
This should include:
- Reading Glasses if need to complete paperwork
- Your identification (Passport)
- Toiletries (toothpaste, soap etc) are usually provided by Hospital though you may want to bring your own personal favourites
- Reading material or your IPod
- All of your medication so medication and their doses can be verified
- Laptop computer. Internet access (Wi-Fi) is available and provided free of charge
- An adapter that can convert your electrical plug to fit into the Thai electrical outlets
- Your post-surgical compression garment
Unless essential, leave your jewelry at your hotel or at home as you will not be allowed to wear jewellery during your surgical procedure. Safe deposit boxes are available in your private hospital room, which you access with your own password. However the hospitalswill not be responsible for any loss or damage
Shower as using an anti-bacterial, fragrance-free soap
Shampoo your hair. Do not use any hair gel or other styling products, scented skin creams or moisturizers. Do not use any deodorant, hair spray, perfume or cosmetics.
Strong Pain relief as back up
Remove all finger nail and toe nail polish.
Wax or shave. It may be uncomfortable to do so in the days immediately after surgery.
Do not eat or drink anything after 12 pm. No lollies, gum or mints. Anything more than a small amount of water as needed for brushing teeth or swallowing medication may result in the need to
cancel surgery..
Prepare a list of questions you may like to ask your surgeon about your surgery and or recovery. This will assist you in ensuring you go into surgery well informed.
Call Home- Your family and love ones will want to know that you arrived safely.
